raw cognition / dice waltz
a waltz that never repeats, played by dice.
Live on YouTube, around the clock.
In 1792 a parlour game was published, attributed to Mozart (K. 516f): roll two dice for each bar, look the bar up in a table, and you've composed a waltz. With 11 choices for each of 16 bars there are about 46 quadrillion of them.
Dice Waltz rolls the dice live and plays the result. Every sound is synthesised in code; nothing is AI. Viewers change how it sounds by typing commands in the YouTube live chat.
chat commands
- !voice harpharpsichord · musicbox · rawcog · harp · marimba · organ · 8bit · lofi
- !tempo fasterfaster · slower · normal, or a number from 0.5 to 1.5
- !key Dany major key: C Db D Eb E F F# G Ab A Bb B
- !fx reverbreverb · delay · wobble · crackle · filter (toggles; add on/off to be exact)
- !play melodymelody · bass · both
- !octave upup · down · normal, or !octave bass up
Changes land on the next bar. Each viewer can send one command every 30 seconds. When the chat is quiet, the waltz makes its own changes now and then.
